Every year, the month of March is dedicated to International Kidney Day. The aim of the day in 2022 is to bridge the knowledge gap to better kidney care.
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a long-term, damaging and widespread kidney disorder that can worsen over time and lead to kidney failure. One in ten adults in Lithuania suffers from CKD. However, 97% of them are unaware that they have kidney problems, as the first symptoms are not felt until late in the disease.
Your kidneys are vital for your survival. Their main tasks are to filter waste substances out of your blood and balance the levels of salts and water in your body.
Unfortunately, there is a huge lack of knowledge about risk factors and prevention of kidney disease today. We therefore encourage you to take an interest in this area and to take preventive measures to check your kidney health.
You can do this at our Diaverum renal clinics in Lithuania, which offer free consultations with a nephrologist for patients with a referral from their GP.
Don't forget to take care of your health. Because everyone deserves a full life.
